Soil amendments

Calculates the lime, sulphur or gypsum rate to correct acidity, high pH or sodicity, with schedule and cost.

Log in to open it

Calculates liming of acid soils, acidification with elemental sulphur, gypsum to displace sodium and the salt leaching depth. Accounts for product particle size and reactivity, splits over several years any rate above the limit per application and saves the plan.

Elements against pH

Phosphorus and micronutrient concentration against pH, leaching depth and action sequence.

1 / 3

Features

  • Soil data: From a saved analysis or by hand, with missing data marked and the calculations possible with the available data.
  • Liming: Target base saturation, laboratory requirement or aluminium factor; material, neutralizing value, reactivity and particle size.
  • Sulphur acidification: Active lime to neutralize in the soil wetted by irrigation, sulphur grade and oxidation by temperature and moisture.
  • Gypsum for sodicity: Target ESP, grade and its basis, reaction efficiency and particle size.
  • Elements against pH: Equilibrium concentration of each element at the target pH.
  • Leaching depth: Water to bring ECe to the target according to irrigation water EC.
  • Sequence and saved plans: Order of action and saved plan with soil, targets, material, price, status and application date.

Inputs

Saved soil analysis or pH, carbonates, exchange complex, salts, texture and organic matter. Product: neutralizing value, grade, particle size, moisture and price. Targets: base saturation, ESP, pH or ECe, and depth to correct.

Results

Lime, sulphur or gypsum rate per hectare, split over years. Sulphur oxidation and gypsum dissolution by particle size, temperature and moisture. Elements against pH, leaching depth, action sequence and cost.

Calculation conditions

In calcareous soils, sulphur acidification is calculated for the soil volume wetted by irrigation. Gypsum displaces sodium with enough irrigation depth and drainage to remove it. Sulphur oxidation depends on soil temperature and moisture.
